| Tracing should be done with a standard pencil or thin pen held vertically--trace slowly all the way around the foot. Trace a second line holding the pen or pencil at 45 degrees around the back and sides of the foot to the inside and outside ball (prominent bones) AND inside the arch area. Use gentle pressure to get an even line the same size as the foot. The second, inside line is the contact line underfoot. |

| TRACE AROUND THE FOOT: MARK THE BALL (inside and outside), MARK INSIDE THE ARCH *, MARK TOE SLOT FOR THONGS |
MEASURE BALL OF FOOT ACROSS THE TOP FROM THE FLOOR ON ONE SIDE TO THE FLOOR ON THE OTHER SIDE. |
MEASURE INSTEP: HOLDTAPE FLAT AGAINST FOOT--THE TAPE WILL ANGLE BACK. MEASURE ACROSS THE TOP AND INTO THE ARCH-LINE UNDER THE FOOT |
|
Holding the tape measure flat against the foot-- 1. Measure the ball over the top of the foot--inside to outside (between the two ball marks). 2. Measure the instep from the floor at the crook of the foot on the outside (over the high part of the foot) to the to the inside into the arch between the two arch lines you made ...The instep measure is done at a slight angle back so the tape stays flat. 3.Measure the heel circumference around the back of the heel from the crook of the foot where the ankle turns upward.
